We are looking to appoint an outstanding candidate to the role of Head of Finance and Business Support Services, fulfilling the responsibilities of the Chief Constable’s Section 151 Officer, ensuring arrangements are in place for proper financial reporting and administration, management and good governance. The Force budget is circa £195m, the Finance and Business Support service has a budget of £3.4m and 71 staff.

This is a senior role which will lead the strategic and tactical financial and management accounting of the business. In addition to this your team deliver payroll and payments, procurement, administrative/business support, insurance services and the evidential property strategy and processes.

As budgets constrict, we are looking for innovative approaches to manage resources, improve digital and analytics capabilities and challenge the status quo.  Excited? If you have a proactive approach to work and highly developed leadership skills to effectively manage staff and resources, and a fully qualified accountant with financial experience in the public sector, you could be the person we are looking for.

Skills and experience:

  • Fully qualified member of a professional accountancy body & substantial experience at a senior level in a financial environment.
  • Experience of the delivery of Financial or Business Support Services within a public sector environment
  • Excellent analysis and interpretation skills
