HP - Special Constable

Force Wide
4 Hours per week
Volunteer

Humberside Police are seeking to recruit a number of Special Constables.

Special Constables are members of the public who volunteer their time to support Humberside Police. They have the same powers as regular officers, wear the same uniform and are issued with the same protective equipment including handcuffs and Asp baton. This is coupled with an understanding of the law and the teaching of various police procedures.

Special Constables come from all walks of life and they volunteer for a minimum of 16 hours a month. They form a vital link between the regular police and the local community.

Joining Humberside Special Constabulary opens up a world of opportunity for personal and professional advancement. Undergoing the training and then going out on patrol makes a welcome break from day-to-day life, bringing excitement and challenge with every day you volunteer.

Please Note:

This is not a standard volunteering role - you are required to undertake a minimum of 26 full day training sessions (mainly weekends) in order to qualify to become a Special Constable. This means giving up your free time and committing to a training schedule of around 6 months. The role of Special Constable is rewarding but comes with challenges, you will be volunteering as a Special Police Officer which means you will place yourself in challenging situations on each shift once you are trained, you will be a fully warranted officer with the same rights as a Police Officer. An application should not be made lightly.
