We are recruiting for an Intelligence Analyst to work within our busy , based in Divisional Intelligence Bureau.This is a unique opportunity to work within the heart of Local Policing, assisting police officers and members of the public on a daily basis.

 

Role Purpose:

As an Intelligence Analyst you will undertake research, analysis and evaluation to assist in the production of strategic and tactical intelligence assessments and produce subject/problem profiles, intelligence products and analytical products as defined by the National Intelligence Model (NIM), to enable informed management decision making at the tactical and strategic level. To support the identification, assessment and management of Organised Crime Groups. Whilst also providing analytical support to all levels of investigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, plans and conducts data collection, integration and analysis of information from a diverse range of computer and manual data sources relating to crime, incidents, intelligence, policing activities and other law enforcement matters. Whilst also providing analytical support to all levels of investigation.
  • Analyses data using a variety of analytical software and methodologies with a view to identifying links and associations between data and monitors and evaluates the significance of patterns and trends over time.       Develops hypotheses and stated inferences concerning the nature and scope of criminal activity. Produces conclusions, identifies intelligence gaps, making recommendations for action and problem solutions to assist the decision making of operational managers.
  • Assists in the production of strategic and tactical assessments. Produces subject profiles, problem profiles and National Intelligence Model analytical products and when appropriate, other problem solving processes e.g. IOM, and all other intelligence products in line with corporate templates. Gives advice on the development of effective analytical strategies. Contributes towards the identification assessment and management of Organised Crime Groups.
  • Presents the results of analysis in the most appropriate format (e.g. written using charts, maps, tables and graphs, etc or verbally in presentations or briefings) to variety of different audiences, including intelligence officers, community officers and operational managers. Also, Attends strategic and tactical tasking and co-ordination meetings and other intelligence meetings / briefings, when necessary, to present intelligence and analytical products.
  • Liaises with a variety of people and agencies, including Police personnel, crime and disorder partners and other analysts, in order to cultivate good working relations, enabling the identification of emerging law enforcement problems (including cross-border activity) and the sharing of information and intelligence.
  • Maintains sound working knowledge of, and contributes to, the Force Control Strategy and Intelligence Requirement and all other National Intelligence Model processes in Force.

 

Skills and experience:

  • Possesses knowledge of research methodologies. As well as an awareness of intelligence analysis and current affairs affecting policing in general.
  • Experience of maintaining databases and researching data from computerised recording systems.
  • Accomplished analytical skills to produce well-reasoned theories and conclusions. Whilst also being able to identify errors and inaccuracies with excellent attention to detail.
  • Innovative, with problem solving skills, Ability to collate, analyse and evaluate large volumes of information to reach well-reasoned conclusions with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use own initiative and judgement in the analysis, interpretation and presentation of information, with an understanding of when matters should be referred to a more senior officer.
