Role Purpose:

To provide a response to calls for service in order to prevent or detect offences, preserve life, keep the peace and enhance the quality of life of the community. To work as part of the PVP team involved in the investigation and the detection of crime ensuring that harm is prevented and ensuring the welfare of vulnerable people is paramount.


     Role Specifics:

    • Conducts registration, periodic monitoring and management of sexual and violent offenders in the community in compliance with relevant legislation and prescribed methods of assessment to ensure the effective management of the risk such offenders pose.
    • Risk assesses and conducts personal visits to interview sex offenders in depth about their offending behaviour, sexual fantasies, grooming process, dynamic risks and from this interview and any other information advise on the risk that person represents to the public of being re convicted for a further offence, ensuring that risks are identified and prompt remedial action as appropriate to ensure risk of offending is eliminated/minimised.
    • Prepares effective risk management plans relevant to the offender being managed.
    • Completes joint visits, joint interviews and risk assessments as required with Probation Officers, Social Workers and Mental Health workers where the offenders are of particular concern. After these visits to be responsible for deciding on any further course of action which needs to be completed to stop the person re offending.
