Staff Officer to HMI Gormley

I am looking to appoint a staff officer to support me in my Northern Inspectorate work. I would ideally want an officer of Chief Inspector (or Inspector suitable for temporary promotion) from one of my regional forces.

The secondment would be for a period of 12 months and would provide a genuine professional and personal development opportunity. Could you consider whether you have a suitable candidate you would be prepared to release?

The post requires an individual with excellent written, analytical and communication skills supported by a strong operational background and with the ability to manage workloads in a fast moving and often complex environment.

The post holder will support me on day to day issues, and duties will include writing structured reports, briefing notes, preparing presentations and speeches and providing detailed updates on any strategic policy issues and tracking actions. I would also want the successful candidate to support the wider Northern Region Support Team and be a key member of that team, reporting to my Chief of Staff.

The post requires a degree of flexibility, but the centre of gravity will be London. Travel and accommodation cost will be met by HMICFRS as necessary.
