Salary: £25,062 - £26,802

Hours: 37 hours per week    

Contract Type: Temporary for 12 months 

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Serious Collision Investigator to work within our Specialist Operations Unit, based in Melton.

The purpose of this unit is to provide a skilled and experienced capability for the investigation of all 

fatal road traffic collisions and collisions resulting in serious (life changing) injury, involving alleged or suspected driving offences. 

The unit provides a high level of service in the investigation of these incidents in line with the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) and the Road Death Investigation 

Manual (RDIM).

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will undertake actions for the purpose of investigating serious & fatal collisions allocated in accordance with the investigative policy set by the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO).

You will assist in the preparation of complex files, to a high standard, for submission to the Crown Prosecution Service or Coroner.

Skills and experience:

  • Possess an awareness of a broad range of legal and procedural knowledge, which is relevant to serious and fatal collisions.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of relevant criminal law, including traffic legislation.
  • Have the ability to deal with people in delicate, tense or frustrating situations, demonstrating and understanding of the feelings of others.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness in a range of situations
