Humberside Police - Sergeant promotion process 2019
We are looking for exceptional officers who are seeking promotion to the rank of Sergeant to help lead and deliver the best possible service to the Public of Humberside Police.
The process will be open to internal and external candidates and will comprise of:
Stage One: Application form
- Candidates are required to submit an application form along with their 9 box grid rating, current ‘live’ PDR and their last completed PDR containing CPD objectives to their Management Team (Internal candidates) or to Career Services (External Candidates) for endorsement by 9am on 31st January 2019.
- The endorsement will consist of 2 options: Supported or Not Supported
- Unsupported candidates must have a clear development plan in place in their PDR and be provided with written rationale as to why they have not been supported
- Supported candidates will progress to Stage 2
Stage One: Work Sample Assessment (Unseen task / presentation) and semi structured interview
Full details of the process will be provided at the preparation workshops, where we will provide an overview of the requirement of the rank and detail the steps of the process. This will be supplemented by a Manual of guidance published with the application form that provides all relevant information

The above will be based around level 2 of the Competency and Values Framework (CVF). Application packs will be available upon request from 9am on 11th January 2019.
Eligibility and How to Apply
Eligible candidates will:
- Have completed 2 years’ service
- Meet the Force Attendance Criteria
- Have an appropriate level of conduct
- Have a minimum ‘competent’ rating within most recent / current PDR
- Have an up to date 9 box grid rating
- Not currently be subject to UPP or live performance improvement action
- Be willing and able to serve anywhere in the Force area and in any role at the newly promoted rank at the discretion of the Chief Constable
- Accept that the order of promotion is completely at the discretion of the Chief Constable
- Be nationally qualified – NPPF step 2 / OSPRE 1 & 2, or have a valid OSPRE S1 (Part 1) qualification
