Opportunities have arisen for dedicated Detective Sergeants to join our Protective Vulnerable Persons Unit, based at Clough Road or Brigg.

This role is for a Detective Sergeant to supervise a team of specialist investigators, overseeing enquiries into some of the most serious and high-risk crime types within policing; directing and supporting high quality investigations to target society’s most dangerous offenders.  Additionally, you will develop close working relationships with a range and partner agencies to safeguard and support victims and prevent further victimisation.

You will be supported through close supervision from a dedicated Detective Inspector and a structured training programme, which includes;

  • Serious Sexual Abuse Investigators Development Programme (SSAIDP)
  • Serious Child Abuse Investigators Development Programme (SCAIDP)
  • Rapid Response to Child Death
  • Specialist Investigating Sudden and Unexplained Child Death
  • Specialist Interviewer Advisor (Tier 5)
  • Modern Slavery Investigation and Modern Slavery Tactical Advisor

The Role

The successful candidate will work as part of a dedicated team, supervising all enquiries undertaken by Detectives in the group and coordinating enquiries in complex investigations.

You will actively monitor all crimes reported crimes during a tour of duty, ensuring Detective involvement where necessary.

The successful applicant will: 

  • Be the Rank of Sergeant, or in the promotion pool and is eligible to be promoted
  • Have some knowledge of major investigation and has had ICIDP or equivalent training
  • Have thorough knowledge, and understanding, of current policy for dealing with incidents of domestic abuse, sexual and other dangerous offenders, missing persons and protection of vulnerable adults
