A Database Engineer is required for South Yorkshire & Humberside Police IS Data Services, working as part of a dynamic team across South Yorkshire & Humberside, providing support across the SQL Server and Oracle estate of core projects and programmes and assisting the business with database related issues.  

Exciting opportunity with South Yorkshire & Humberside Police IS Data Services, working as part of the database team, providing support for critical and innovative force shared data service solutions and services:

-          Assisting in the support and maintenance of the extensive SQL Server & Oracle estate

-          Assisting in the creation of new database/upgrading of databases when required

-          Liaising with 3rd party suppliers when upgrading systems

-          Routine monitoring of database alerts and reacting to urgent issues

-          Monitoring incident system and solving urgent database issues

-          Checking daily backup routines and resolving failures

-          Refresh of test/development databases following documented procedure

Applicants should have a good understanding of core applications and be willing to gain experience of deploying data solutions and services, whilst assisting with the support of critical project and programmes deliveries.  A desire to work in a challenging & innovative environment is essential.

Reporting to the Data Services Manager, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to experience and obtain a range of high value industry skills, whilst developing technical and business strengths towards personal and force goals.


Applicants should be willing to gain knowledge and experience of developing data solutions and services, SQL / PLSQL & TSQL, supporting critical project and programmes deliveries and a desire to work in a challenging & innovative environment.
