West Yorkshire Police is looking to recruit a Digital Investigator to be based at Leeds.

In this role, you will provide specialist technical advice, and undertake the interrogation and investigation of digital devices to obtain intelligence and evidence, in accordance with national best practice and relevant legislation to support regional, national and international policing.

We are seeking candidates who have an aptitude for problem solving, in a methodical and orderly manner, and are able to work under pressure and make critical decisions within tight schedules and deadlines.

Ideal candidates will also hold a degree in Computer Science/Forensic Computing Studies, or equivalent qualification in digital forensics, and/or significant proven relevant experience/training in these fields. You must also possess a thorough working knowledge and expertise of common operating systems, applications, basic network technologies and internet technologies.

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will be able to recognise sensitive information, and maintain discretion and confidentiality. Physical and emotional resilience to dealing with abusive and offensive images, of extreme violence, obscenity and depravity is also essential.

As this is a regional role, you must hold a full UK/European driving licence and be prepared to travel for business purposes, regionally, nationally and internationally; possibly for extended periods and during unsociable hours to provide 24 hour cover if necessary. You must also be able to change your working hours at short notice and participate in a call- out rota.

The successful candidate must be a British Citizen and will be subject to enhanced personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment. You must also be able to pass the core courses in relation to the recovery and analysis of digital evidence, as specified by ACPO
