South Yorkshire Police is the national lead for a programme, which seeks to transform problem solving within the police service at local, regional and national levels. 

The Problem Solving Team will work in partnership with international problem solving experts, blue light partners and stakeholders such as Neighbourhood Watch, the NHS and University researchers, to deliver best practice solutions.  South Yorkshire Police will lead the team under the direction of Assistant Chief Constable Lauren Poultney.

The programme will be responsible for developing an understanding of the prevention and problem solving knowledge and tools the police service currently uses, and those it requires in order to support the fundamental aim of the police, which is to make our communities safer.

The programme will look into the standards required in this area, and will review academic evidence and the work of other sectors involved in crime prevention and problem solving. It will also research, plan, test and develop a first-class model of policing that will shape how all forces face new challenges for years to come.

This is an exciting time for Forces nationally and the programme will be at the forefront of delivering a national innovative solution for local policing.

The post holder must be able to demonstrate specific experience of project management and business analysis. The successful candidate will be expected to lead and manage projects such that cost, quality, plan, time, and benefits realisation are controlled and achieved, through ensuring that all projects adhere to the best practices and standard approaches for project management.

Under the leadership of the Programme Superintendent and the Programme Lead, all of the above staff and officers will be responsible for accepting project work packages and working closely to ensure delivery of products and process change.
