An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Communications Officer to join our busy Communications Department, based at Force Headquarters, in Hull.

In this role, you will be part of the Media Team, working with local, regional and national media on a daily basis, taking enquiries and formulating appropriate responses, as well as supporting operational policing activity through internal and external communications across all available channels to increase public confidence and satisfaction.

The successful candidate must hold a Degree or relevant qualification in one of the following communications fields, Journalism, Media or Public Relations, or have a minimum of five-years working in a fast-paced press office environment or newsroom.

You will have a detailed knowledge of legislation relating to media and communications, particularly the laws around contempt of court. 

You will also have a sound working knowledge of, and the ability to use, a wide range of relevant computerised packages, including Microsoft Office and Adobe design packages.

To be considered for this role you will have the ability and willingness to travel for business purposes, be available to work outside normal office hours as part of an on-call rota, providing communications advice and support to the Force, as well as the flexibility and preparedness to attend any critical incidents as required during the call out period.
