The successful applicant will conduct investigations into serious and complex crime; working collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard victims, protect the public and bring offenders to justice.

 

As a PVP Detective you will work on some of the most serious and high-risk crime types within policing, conducting high quality investigations to target society’s most dangerous offenders.  Additionally, you will develop close working relationships with a range and partner agencies to safeguard and support victims and prevent further victimisation.

 

You will be supported through close supervision and a structured training programme which includes;

  • Serious Sexual Abuse Investigators Development Programme (SSAIDP)
  • Serious Child Abuse Investigators Development Programme (SCAIDP)
  • Specialist Witness Interviewer
  • Rapid Response to Child Death
  • Specialist Suspect Interviewer (Tier 3)
  • Modern Slavery Investigation and Modern Slavery Tactical Advisor

 

The Role

 

Within this role, you will work as part of team, responding to safeguarding concerns and taking immediate action to protect children and vulnerable people.  You will undertake all aspects of the investigation, including attending crime scenes, conducting interviews with vulnerable and intimidated witnesses, interviewing suspects and case building.

 

In addition you will work closely with partners from Social Care and Health; attending Forensic Medical Examinations and Safeguarding Strategy Meetings.

 

The successful applicant will have experience of the following areas:

 

  • Must be an accredited Detective or have successfully completed the National Investigator’s Exam (NIE).
  • Has an appreciation of safeguarding and the wider issues of a PVP investigation.
  • Has a proven track record of investigation
  • Has a high level of knowledge and understanding of legislation, Force practice directions and policies.
