Applications are invited from Detective Sergeants who have completed their probationary period by the closing date of this advert.


This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in a unique team, supporting the work of Counter Terror Policing.

As a member of the DSU you will be responsible for the supervision and day to day management of the recruitment, maintenance and development of covert sources, whether authorised by West Yorkshire Police or with concurrence from the Security Service. You will ensure compliance with RIPA, The ACPO Manual on the Management of CHIS, Force Policy and CTP HQ Manual for the Management of CHIS on behalf of the Security Service.


It is essential that you have/will successfully complete a NSAHC assessment, along with previous experience of Source Handling. It is also essential that you have the ability to pass the H1 Controllers and National Security Agent Handlers Courses as well as developed vetting.

You should be willing to work flexible working hours and call-outs as required, and have access to your own vehicle that you are willing to use for business purposes.

This will be a posting for West Yorkshire Police officers and a transfer or a secondment to the Regional Forces. Under a secondment you will require permission from your current Force in order to be eligible to apply.

Please note that the successful candidate will be subject to Enhanced and Developed level personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment. You must be a British citizen and eligible to hold a British passport to work in the CTP NE.
