Exciting opportunities have arisen for dedicated Detective Constables to join the Major Crime Team, to work as part of a team of staff involved in the investigation of major crime, primarily, homicide, in accordance with Force Major Crime investigation procedures.

The successful candidates will assist the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO), undertaking actions for investigating major crime.

The Role

You will interview complainants and witnesses, in order to record accurate and reliable accounts and statements

You will gather, analyse, report and act upon criminal intelligence to maintain a pro-active approach to policing.

The successful applicant will:

 

  • Have successfully completed the ICIDP course, or equivalent
  • Be able to work with guidance and processes relating to MIRSAP
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of relevant criminal law, especially PACE
  • Be able to collate, analyse and evaluate complex information effectively to reach well-reasoned conclusions
  • Be able to work without supervision, with a high degree of self-motivation
