HP - INSPECTOR - FORCE INCIDENT MANAGER

DEPARTMENT: COMMAND HUB

LOCATION: HESSLE

40 HOURS

RANK: INSPECTOR

The Force Incident Manager role is a challenging and rewarding role and sits at the heart of the Command HUB, acting as the central decision making point for all incidents coming into the Force. Trained as a spontaneous firearms commander the post also carries the responsibility for managing the initial response to all firearms incidents reported through the HUB.

The preferred candidate will supervise the effective and efficient running of the Command Hub, being accountable for all aspects of contact, resource and demand management and for ensuring that Hub business processes are managed in a competent and professional manner which meets force performance and operational objectives.

This is an opportunity for substantive Inspectors, or a temporary opportunity for Sergeants, (in terms of having passed their OSPRE Part 1 / NPPF Part 2 Legal exam) or have taken the NPPF exam this calendar year.

We are aware that there is potential interest in this role from some Sergeants who have taken their NPFF legal exams in October 2018, but that they won’t know whether they have passed until the first week or two of December.

As such the closing date for this EOI is now 1200 hrs 17th December 2018.  It is also reminded that applications would only be considered for those people who intend to enter the next available Inspectors’ promotion process.

This extension will in no way disadvantage anybody who has already submitted an application.

The successful applicant may have the opportunity to undertake training as an Initial Tactical Firearms Commander early in 2019.  Due to the investment involved in the process, it is important for candidates to have a genuine and committed interest in undertaking the role of FIM for a period of time.

Interested candidates are invited to have informal discussions with C/Insp Lee Edwards, (ext 6080), or any of the existing FIMs, to gain a full understanding of the role prior to submitting their application. Please DO NOT contact this person about the online application and recruitment process.

You must have a broad range of knowledge relating to support and technical services available to the Police Service, with an understanding of local and social issues, which surround the role of the Police.

Please note, you must have your line manager’s approval to apply for this post. The attached Internal Reference Form will need to be completed, endorsed and attached to your application before submission.

Closing date: Midday Monday 17th December 2018.
