Job Purpose

Leadership of the CTP NOC National Firearms Threat Centre Team based in central London, additionally it is anticipated that the post holder will spend around 40% of their time working within the wider CT(I)U / ROCU network and in NCA premises in Birmingham.

Leadership and coordination of CT resources within the National Firearms Threat Centre (NFTC).  Oversight, management and development of operational activity (overt and covert) for the NFTC to mitigate against terrorist acquisition of firearms. Act as CT lead in ongoing NFTC project development and delivery.

1.    Lead on the work of identifying national firearms threats across both CT and ROCU networks. 

2.    As CT lead on the NFTC change program, represent the interests of CT policing at strategic and operational firearms meetings with Government and partners. Provide monthly updates to the National Firearms Governance Group.   

3.     Command of the following:

        a.     National Firearms Intelligence Centre (Endeavour)
        b.     National Firearms Intelligence Centre (Operations)

4.     Build enduring relationships with partners, establishing intelligence sharing and tasking processes.

5.     Manage operational support budget in furtherance of investigations key to NFTC (Endeavour) objectives.

6.     Constantly review the threat picture with regards to terrorist acquisition of firearms and ensure national LEA resources are directed accordingly.

7.     Identify operational best practice (overt and covert) and support wider national implementation with uniform standards of delivery. 

 

Vetting and STRAP

This post will require you to hold National Security Vetting (NSV) at Developed Vetting (DV).

The post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) before taking up the post. Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.


Confidentiality Agreement

Applicants should also be aware of the need to sign a confidentiality agreement on taking up the post.

All posts are on secondment for a period of two years and based in London although some travel UK travel will be required.
