The role

The Senior Leadership Groups of Humberside and South Yorkshire are seeking expressions of interest from police staff or police officers (including Chief Inspectors for a Temporary Superintendent opportunity) to undertake the role of Head of Training across both forces for a period of 12 months, with an option to extend to 24 months based upon organisational need.

As the Head of Training, you will join the HR Senior Management Team reporting directly to the ACO HR and will lead the learning and development delivery arm of the HR Services.      

Interested candidates must be able to commit to spending 50 per cent of their time in each force.

As Head of Training you will be responsible for the following: 

  • Responding to the identification and prioritisation of organisational learning and development needs
  • Leading the development and delivery of learning programmes through the Training Centre, managing the training planning process for Humberside Police and South Yorkshire Police
  • Co-ordinating the governance of learning and development
  • Managing the learning and development budget
  • Working at a local, regional and national level on relevant working groups
  • Seeking and introducing emerging best practice to enable a contemporary and focused L&D function
  • Maximising the effective utilisation of training resources

The candidate

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate a strong commitment to workforce development and maximising the potential of our people.

You will need to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across both forces and external partners.

Ideally, you will have some experience of contemporary L&D practice.
