An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Investigator to join Operation Lingfield, within the Major Crime Team.

The successful applicant will work with an experienced, dedicated team in a large / major enquiry environment utilising the HOLMES system, investigating some of the most serious crimes committed against vulnerable people. There is NO requirement to be trained in the use of or have experienced in the use of the HOLMES system as training will be provided. The enquiry you will be engaged on will require you to be flexible and prepared to work out of the Force area on occasions which MAY include the necessity to stay overnight out of the Force area as part of your duties.

We wantto provide a consistent and professional service to the victims so would like anyone interested in this role to be prepared to commit for the duration of the contract. The contract is full time and funded until April 2020.

Role Purpose:

The overall purpose of the role is to support Humberside Police, by utilising personal skills and professional knowledge to further investigations, support victims and witnesses of crime and manage offenders

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produces high quality victim & witness statements in accordance with the Manual of Guidance / Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) / PEACE / Achieving Best Evidence (ABE). This includes the visually recording of evidence from witnesses and victims.
  • Reviews documentation and exhibits to identify further lines of enquiry and for our duties under the Criminal Procedure and Investigation Act 1996
  • Interviews suspects in accordance with the Police & Criminal Evidence Act 1984
  • Seeks & submits intelligence through interview technique, personal observation in support of operational activities and by the identification and targeting of known offenders or crime patterns.
  • Liaises with the public, other Police Forces and outside agencies in relation to the gathering of evidence.

Skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Applicants should be PIP (Professionalising Investigation Programme) level 2 qualified via the Initial Crime Investigators development programme, or is working towards accreditation.
  • Is trained to complete ABE interviews with vulnerable witnesses
  • Has experience in identifying and implementing safeguarding measures for vulnerable people
  • Knowledge of the required contents of a victim impact statement
  • Full Driving License

Desirable:

  • Experience in the use of Police Computer Systems such as HOLMES, PNC & CONNECT
