Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officer (CTSFO)

Carr Gate, Wakefield

Expressions of Interest should only be submitted from authorised Firearms Officers.

Applications are invited from Constables currently trained to the ARV standard to form part of the national Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officer (CTSFO) network on the Armed Crime Tactical Team.  The recruitment process will include an expression of interest and a suitability assessment prior to completion of training.  The suitability assessment will include the fitness test to 10.5 and the hang test for 25 seconds on a fast rope as well as covering existing skills.

In order to achieve the CTSFO standard officers will need to complete the initial SFO course and subsequent CTSFO upskills course, some of which may be away from the force area requiring officers being away from home.

It is our intention upon completion of the selection process to begin the training of the successful officers ASAP, with vacancies on course’s commencing in October 2018, as well as later in the year with the ultimate aim of having officers trained to the CTSFO standard.

Officers will need a great deal of commitment and ability to succeed in passing the above courses and be keen, motivated and proactive in their approach to general police work. Currently members of the team work core office hours of Monday to Friday with significant flexibility, but it is the aspiration that the team will move to a shift pattern once staff have been recruited.

As the role involves covert deployments it is essential that this team represents the wider community. Both female and BME officers are currently underrepresented and applications are encouraged. All officers are welcome to have informal discussions if they are considering applying for this process.

Prior to any training courses officers will be required to be vetted to SC level and once posted will be expected to form part of the ACTT CTSFO on call rota.

Completed Expressions of Interest forms should be returned by email to hr.oss@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk by Friday 29th June 2018. Suitability assessments dates will be confirmed shortly.

PLEASE ENSURE AN ELECTRONIC COPY OF YOUR MOST RECENT PDR IS INCLUDED WITH YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION FORM.  PLEASE BE AWARE YOU MUST MEET THE ATTENDANCE STANDARD AT BOTH THE CLOSING DATE AND POSTING DATE

This opportunity is closed to applications.
