The vacancy is within the Learning and Development Crime Training Department that delivers collaborative crime training for both Humberside and South Yorkshire Police. The post is located at Courtland Rd, Cottingham, Humberside; however, there will be an expectation to occasionally work across both police forces in order to develop collaborative course products and working practices.

The department delivers a number of crime based courses, Initial Crime Investigators Development Programme, Management of Serious Crime Investigations Development Programme, Investigative Supervisors Development Programme, Disclosure, Covert Policing, Cyber Crime and many more.

The post holder will have first line supervisor responsibilities for staff within the department, quality assurance of training delivery and products, a training provider role for courses within Crime Training Portfolio, along with completing specific projects, research and development tasks relevant to the role.

Work experience and knowledge of criminal law and associated police procedures are essential in order to be able to apply practical examples of law in working situations to the students. The successful candidate should have current work experience of dealing and supervising serious and complex investigations, knowledge and application of interviewing suspects, witnesses and victims using PEACE/PACE interview methods, have undertaken and supervised evidential enquiries and a good understanding of covert policing tactics.

A significant amount of national training products are currently being developed, some of these and other associated trainer tasks will be the responsibility of the post holder to ensure that this work is allocate to staff for development and delivery.

The successful applicant will be expected to be innovative, forward thinking and able to demonstrate a high level of motivation, interpersonal and communication skills.

The applicant should be qualified as a trainer or possess equivalent qualifications in respect of the delivery of training to adult learners or be prepared to successfully complete Learning and Development trainer courses.
