Role Purpose:

The Economic Crime Unit is seeking to recruit Financial Investigators to join a dedicated team recovering assets in criminal and civil proceedings utilising the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

To support the work in South Yorkshire Police in disrupting serious and complex organised criminality, primarily through the use of powers conferred by the Proceeds of Crime Act.  To conduct civil financial investigations and recover assets, exploiting opportunities for asset recovery across the whole spectrum of criminality from those convicted of criminal activity and managing the forfeiture process.

Key Responsibilities:

In this fast-paced and often demanding role, the successful candidate will carry out financial investigations, gathering and developing financial intelligence and evidence in order to recover assets.

You will assist colleagues and officers throughout the South Yorkshire region, carrying out confiscation, cash seizure, listed asset and frozen funds investigations. You will provide advice, guidance, and expertise in all areas of asset recovery.

We are looking for candidates who know and understand asset recovery, money laundering and other serious and complex financial crime, including the use of conventional and covert investigative techniques.

NCA Financial Investigation Accreditation, Civil Recovery in Summary Proceedings and/or Restraint and Confiscation accreditations would be an advantage, but training will be provided for the right applicant.

You will be expected to attend both Crown and Magistrates courts to make applications and give evidence in support of your findings.

You will be required to travel and work flexibly for business purposes and to suit business needs, which may include working outside of normal hours. You must hold a full UK European Driving Licence.

The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment.

Skills and experience:

This is a career graded post, the higher level of grading will be achieved upon successful completion of the National Crime Agency (NCA) Proceeds of Crime courses as detailed within this role profile.

Once accredited, continued CPD must be completed to maintain accreditation as an Advanced Accredited Financial Investigator.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
