Role Purpose:

We are looking to recruit a Duties and Resourcing Team Duty Planner to use and maintain the current Duties Management systems on a daily basis to support deployment of resources in line with Force, District and Departmental priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use duty management software and Microsoft packages to identify, amend, compile and report on duties data including weekly, monthly and annual rosters for police officers/staff to meet the operational needs of the Force (Taking into account holidays, sickness, rest days, Police Regulations and minimum staffing etc).
  • Plan and publish advanced duties for police officer/staff.
  • Circulate/publish duties information to staff, inform staff of changes to rosters, sometimes at short notice within policy/Police Regulations.
  • Maintain the force duties data and hierarchy in order to reflect any restructuring and changes, amending names, codes, locations, shifts/reliefs and rotas as appropriate.
  • Identify and report system configuration errors, liaise with HR Systems Administrators in order to initiate remedial action.
  • Maintain records associated with force requirements such as annual leave, sickness, training etc.
  • Prepare rosters for operations and special events as required by the Force.
  • Identify risks to the force that may affect ability to provide business as usual now and in the future. Ensure escalation to management at the earliest opportunity.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.

 

Skills and experience:

  • Proven ability in windows based computer packages and manual record keeping.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to speak with people of all levels, especially when allocating overtime.
  • Experience of achieving targets and working towards service level agreements and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail with a consistent & methodical approach to tasks.
  • Mathematical approach to extracting data.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
