Role Purpose:

The post holder will provide general administrative support within the CID administration unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interrogate and/or retrieve data from various computer systems including CONNECT, SMART Contact, PNC and Caspre. To update and maintain CMS ii.
  • Collate and disseminate data from CONNECT, CMS ii and PNC in order to confirm stolen vehicles.
  • Liaise with Criminal Justice Unit and other offices within South Yorkshire Police.
  • Adhere to Force policy when dealing with currency that is potentially counterfeit.
  • Comply with Data Protection Act when dealing with telephone enquiries from members of the public/insurance companies etc.
  • Peruse/decipher court results to update CONNECT, as necessary.
  • Interrogate and decipher Court files and request the OIC to submit further crimes in order to detect and update CONNECT in line with District performance indicators and home office counting rules.
  • Process ‘Acknowledge Recorded Offence differs from Disposal Offence’ tasks on CONNECT.
  • Handle files containing sensitive, distressing and explicit papers received i.e., rapes, murders and child abuse cases.
  • Deal with the thinning, weeding and destruction of paperwork/files in line with the MOPI guidelines.
  • Processing Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority applications.
  • Photocopy, file and maintain records for ease of retrieval.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
