Role Purpose:

We are looking to recruit to a resource planning team leader to work in our busy department.  The successful candidate will deliver effective supervision and direction of the resource planning Technical Support Clerks to ensure that resource management within a 24/7 call centre environment is effective.

Delivery of sustained resources for effective and efficient day to day running of Atlas Court.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Duties Team ensuring efficient day-to-day running of the department while proactively responding to changes within organisational structure and processes.
  • Efficiently use the Workforce Planning Tool and Microsoft packages to identify, amend, compile and report on duties data including weekly, monthly and annual rosters for police officers/staff to meet the operational needs of the Department.
  • Identify opportunities to promote continual professional development at an individual and team level to maintain team competency.
  • Manage staff welfare.
  • Assist with the recruitment and selection of staff members in the unit.
  • Conduct meaningful staff appraisals via the PDR system while setting individual objectives and development plans to manage and address staff performance.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of Police Regulations and Staff Terms & Conditions to reflect accurate application of agreed protocols.
  • Identify risks to the force that may affect ability to provide business as usual now and in the future. Ensure escalation to management at the earliest opportunity.
  • Positively represent the department while attending internal and external meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with equal opportunities and data protection

 

  • Undertake Health and Safety risk assessments and highlight recommendations to Health and Safety
  • representative within the department.
  • Perform other duties that correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility

Skills and experience:

  • Proven ability in the use of windows based computer systems, either by relevant qualification or work based experience.
  • Experience working in an organisational role or with the public in an advisory capacity.
  • Experience of interrogating/maintaining and retrieving data/information using various computer and manual recording packages.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail with a consistent & methodical approach to tasks.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.

Fixed: This is a traditional arrangement, applicable when the work is mostly required to be undertaken at a fixed single place of work (on police premises) for most of the time. The work can only or is more effectively delivered from a police premises or other agreed organisational/partner premises.
