Role Purpose:

To support ongoing improvements to force performance in compliance with the National Crime Recording Standard (NCRS), the Home Office Counting Rules (HOCR) and National Standard for Incident Recording (NSIR) through the line management of AGU Auditors/Audit Assistant and by developing and administrating the completion of dip sample audits based on risk areas, identifying areas of non-compliance, analysing audit data to produce quality reports, presentations, training and guidance and provide resilience for the Designate Decision Maker (DDM) role by cancelling crimes in accordance with HOCR.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in NCRS, HOCR and crime recording and ensure a continuous knowledge and development of staff within the AGU department including relevant legislation and case law.
  • Supervise the Auditors and Audit Assistant.
  • Develop and administrate a monthly programme of dip sample audits of various SYP systems based on risk, to assess compliance with NCRS and HOCR by scoping out the audit terms of reference, direct the auditors on process, analyse the completed audit data, prepare a high-quality report for dissemination to senior management highlighting the key findings and making recommendations for improvement and deliver the findings to relevant meetings such as Force Performance and Quarterly Performance Review to support and influence operational and strategic direction.
  • Conduct follow up audits to monitor improvement.
  • Provide resilience to the DDM by assisting with the cancellation of investigations recorded in error or where additional verifiable information comes to light.
  • Review requests for reclassification of investigations.
  • Maybe required to work outside normal working hours and travel around and outside of the force.
  • Maybe required deputise for the Deputy Force Crime and Incident Registrar.
  • Performs such other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
