Salary: £27,690 - £31,434

Hours: 37 hours per week         

Contract Type: Temporary until 31.03.24

 

We require an experience Payroll Officer to play an active role in the  implementation of Oracle Cloud Payroll, to support the Finance and Payroll Lead's in the designing of the system, Payroll element design, reporting requirements, testing and training.  You will have an understand all aspects of Payroll and Finance Reporting . 

Initially the role will be assisting in providing Payroll information to our Pensions department to assist in the Police Pensions Remedy process.  

You will:

  • Have an understanding of occupational pension schemes and the calculation of contributions and the effect on taxable pay.  
  • Have experience of interrogating an integrated HR/Payroll System  (Oracle). 
  • Have good Excel Spreadsheet skills

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with our SME’s, and input into the programme and design of the system
  • Actively support and help deliver any Payroll actions ensuring the are achieved by given deadline
  • Work with SME’s to understand the current processes, regulation, policy, statutory and legislation, work with the HR Technical,  Finance ,Payroll Leads and SME’s to produce business requirements and design specification
  • Work with the Payroll Lead to ensure all procedures and  process maps for both on and off system processes are mapped, process owners are identified and work with the Business Analysts to understand both current and future effort and productivity are documented and understood.
  • Work with the Payroll Lead where required, to contribute to the re-engineer processes to adapt to the new system and ensure improved efficiency
  • With the change team, develop the hyper care package for the Payroll and HR functional area ensuring adequate training is available/undertaken.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
