Details of role:

South Yorkshire Police are seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual to work as part of a team delivering second line support to both South Yorkshire and Humberside Police as part of collaborative IT function. The post holder will be based from Police base at Melton.

The core activities of the role include supporting desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices and offering general customer support, therefore strong previous IT Support experience is essential. The role will require the post holder to travel to all over the policing area of South Yorkshire and Humberside so having a driving license is essential. It would be desirable for the post holder to have an understanding of ITIL and project planning methodologies.

Role Purpose:

The successful applicant will work as part of a team to analyse, plan and manage the implementation of Information Technology aspects across South Yorkshire and Humberside Police in line with IS strategies and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will be actively involved in the planning, implementation, delivery and maintenance of all client-based equipment across both forces (HP & SYP).
  • The post holder will install and implement new hardware and software in line with the Desktop Strategy.
  • The successful applicant will provide second line support to South Yorkshire and Humberside user communities ensuring all SLA’s are adhered to whilst maintaining a customer focused approach to IT Service Management problems, issues and requests.
  • Liaise with IS technical staff and projects and provide advice and assistance without the sphere of expertise.

Skills and experience:

  • Knowledge and experience of enterprise IT systems.
  • Proven previous experience of working in an IT Support environment.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years has been identified for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
