Contract Type: Temporary – 12 months

 

Role Purpose:

The post holder will work as part of a Team to analyse, plan and manage the implementation of Information Technology aspects across South Yorkshire Police and Humberside Police in line with IS Strategies and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for the server estate across multiple geographic locations, through the use of appropriate support and maintenance, monitoring all related systems and applications for the provision of pro-active support, performance and the provision of KPI’s with respect to availability.
  • As directed by the IS Team/Specialism Leader (Server), liaise with user departments with regard to future equipment and formulate proposals to meet their needs, monitor and control requests for new work ensuring that appropriate quality and standards are maintained and that work is completed in a timely fashion.
  • Assist the IS Team Leader/Specialism Leader (Server) in the testing of business continuity systems, act as the key contract in the absence of the IS Team/Specialism Leader (Server) in the event of business continuity plans being activated.
  • Contribute in the decision making process and make recommendations to the IS management team.
  • Deputise for the Team Leader as and when necessary.

Skills and experience:

Essential criteria:

  • Excellent knowledge of two or more, Group Policy, Microsoft Active Directory, UNIX based configuration or storage environments, backed up by MCSA Certification
  • Strong understanding of Virtualisation technologies.
  • Experience in taking a lead role in system Implementation
  • Excellent understanding of storage environments and technologies.
  • Excellent customer support and stakeholder communication.
  • Experience in deputising for a team leader role.
  • Strong understanding of Server security and hardening

Desirable criteria:

  • ITIL Foundation.
  • Knowledge of TOGAF/COBIT.
  • Understanding of CESG/National Security Standards.
  • Knowledge and experience of IS strategy and planning.
  • Knowledge and experience of dealing with suppliers and contracts.
  • Knowledge and experience of business models and continuous improvement models.

Eligibility:
