An opportunity has arisen to join the Performance & Governance department as a temporary Freedom of Information and Data Returns Officer. The role sits within the Performance and Governance unit within the Business Change Directorate. The unit is responsible for all statutory and corporate performance management issues, including development of the force’s performance management framework, production of a wide variety of reports and surveys, completion of numerous statutory data returns, as well as development of performance information systems.

Based at Carbrook House in Sheffield you will be responsible for extracting and collating data in response to incoming freedom of information data requests, whilst liaising with the Information Compliance Unit. You will also be responsible for sending data to the Home Office as part of the data returns process, adhering to strict deadlines.

You will be required to extract data from multiple data recording systems.

To be considered for this role you must possess previous experience in data analysis and presentation, combined with a high-level aptitude of Microsoft Excel. You will need to possess a methodical and creative approach to problem solving, have a high attention to detail, and be able to work effectively within a team environment. In addition, you will be able to manage change and plan and organise your work effectively to ensure statutory deadlines are met.

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of analysis and presentation of statistical data.
  • Experience of working in an administrative role.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Excel, including the creation and use of spreadsheets.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word.
  • Experience of extracting data from systems. Knowledge of Discoverer.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years / 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
