Hours: 37 Hours per Week

Contract Type: Temporary – Ending March 2021

 

Exciting opportunities have arisen to join the newly formed data intelligence team within the department of Business Change and Innovation in South Yorkshire Police.

The new team is going to be at the forefront of understanding and analysing policing data and delivering on the opportunities afforded by data analytics and data science techniques.

The post holders (temporary until March 2021) will work as part of a team with other analysts, using data from a variety of sources to drive the development of data analytics and business intelligence across the organisation.

The successful candidate will have the ability to explore, manipulate and visualise data in order to test hypotheses and deliver new insights and business intelligence that are relevant to decision makers

The roles would therefore suit persons with a background in working with data and/or research with a drive to want to apply this experience within the dynamic field of policing.

Skills and experience:

  • Qualified to degree level in a numerate discipline or demonstrate work experience at an equivalent level.
  • Experience of developing and delivering analytics products using a range of open and closed data sources and commercial and open source data analytics and visualisation tools.
  • Experience of practical implementation of data security, access control and data protection principles and legislation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal regarding data science, statistical and analytical concepts to technical and non-technical customers.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and experience to work independently or part of a team to solve technical problems in the delivery of an effective analytical product.
  • Evidence of applying new technologies to your approach to data science

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years / 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
