Details of role:

The role manages the Regional Clothing Store to ensure that stock levels are cost effectively managed in order to provide good customer service to the three forces currently utilising the services of the store. The role is a technical expert in Police clothing & equipment, has significant market knowledge, which enables inputs to tender processes, sustainability initiatives and ongoing drives for efficiency.

The Regional Stores Manager will undertake operational contract management for contracts within their area of responsibility, and ensure appropriate processes; governance and technical solutions are in place and maintained effectively to ensure efficient and transparent stock management.

The jobholder is required to have significant experience of people management, and to be conversant with all warehouse–related Health & Safety at Work regulations and policies in order to maintain a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work at other locations regionally
  • To work out of office hours on ad hoc basis to meet operational demand
  • Budget circa £3m for uniform and equipment with stock turnover of up to £5m
  • Manage the Regional Stock Controller to ensure that stock records are accurate and that the stock level is maintained across the 3 Forces appropriately to provide good customer service without generating high write-off costs.
  • To be the technical expert lead for clothing and equipment, incorporating participating in tender process, market knowledge, diversity, sustainability and health and safety
  • Undertakes operational contract management for contracts within area of responsibility
  • Ensure appropriate processes, governance and technical solutions are in place and maintained effectively to ensure efficient and transparent stock management at all sites.
  • Develop and improve departmental policy to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with legal requirements and develop an awareness of regional policies.
  • Evaluate, manage and develop the personal interface between the stores operation and customers to ensure that it meets customer requirements.
  • To be conversant and comply with all Health and Safety at work regulations and policies in order to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the supply function for major operational incidents such as EDL protest.
  • Liaise with individual forces to ensure that future expenditure items are identified and that stores operations are planned to accommodate these requirements.
  • Manage and develop staff using the performance review system to ensure effective service delivery.

Skills and experience:

  • Previous experience of managing in a stores environment
  • Experience of managing and developing stock control systems
  • Previous experience of supervising staff
  • Awareness of health and safety regulations
  • Developed knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Previous experience of managing expenditure against a defined budget
  • Experience of Professional Procurement practices – including OJEU Tenders.

Eligibility:
