Role: Administration / Insurance Clerk

Department: Performance & Governance

Location: Churchill Way, Sheffield

Salary: Band B - £18, 486 - £20, 115

Hours: 37 Hours per Week

Contract Type: Temporary – 10 Months

 

Role Purpose:

The post holder will provide administrative support to the Information Compliance Unit and handle finances as appropriate under the relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out checks on transactions performed on Force systems, including PNC and other in-house systems; in order to verify their authenticity.
  • Process applications as required under the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts.
  • Process applications made under the ACPO ABI Memorandum of Understanding, including arranging and monitoring invoicing of the fees.
  • Assist in the conduct of audits and inspections in relation to data protection and information security.
  • Deal with telephone enquiries and queries that may be directed to the Unit by means of a central facility.
  • Provide administration support to the Information Compliance Unit in respect of data protection, information security and freedom of information.
  • Receive, log, acknowledge and distribute incoming correspondence on a daily basis.
  • Undertake general filing, photocopying duties as appropriate, necessary, maintaining current and archive filing systems.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of Information Security, Data Protection and Freedom of Information issues.
  • Update department website.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Freedom of Information Officer.

Skills & experience:

  • Evidence of practical application of Microsoft Computer Packages
  • Experience of providing admin support to a unit
  • Experience of data input

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years has been identified for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
