Role Purpose:

To develop and deliver cyber-crime awareness, working in partnership with colleagues, other law enforcement agencies and private industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To develop and deliver cyber-crime awareness, working in partnership with colleagues, other law enforcement agencies and private industry. To raise awareness and provide expert guidance and share knowledge to educate and help reduce cyber-attacks and their impact to the public
  • To support South Yorkshire Police in ensuring a consistent approach in delivering cyber security advice in accordance with both PROTECT and PREVENT strands under the cyber-crime Control Strategy.
  • To support the Financial Protect Officer, and Regional colleagues in delivering a consistent and appropriate approach.
  • To provide specialist support to law enforcement in identifying and coordinating emerging threats and trends by engaging with the public and private sector as well as regional partners to prepare for, prevent and respond to incidents of cyber-crime/attacks.
  • Develop local cyber PROTECT/PREVENT resilience partnerships with public, private and voluntary organisations.
  • To identify and assess those individuals / organisations that might be vulnerable to cyber criminals and provide a suitable service.
  • Proactively support the national initiatives of The Banking Protocol and Operation Signature.
  • Deliver presentations and promote cyber-crime related material to a variety of differing individuals and groups, encouraging the reporting of cybercrime threats to law enforcement and the promotion and benefits of joining information sharing networks.
  • To share best practice identified with partners agencies, commercial partners and professional contacts to minimise the risk of harm and thus ensure that future criminal opportunities are minimised and crime reduced.
  • Assist in implementing effective external and internal communication strategies aimed at delivering PROTECT and PREVENT messaging to the public and private sector and law enforcement partners.
  • Develop opportunities for partners to work together, develop tailored responses, identify, and make use of existing programs and relationships.
  • Be in a position where technical and complex information can be absorbed and understood but relayed to a non-technical audience who are able to fully understand

Skills and experience:

  • Previous experience working in a crime and disorder reduction environment
  • Ability to travel throughout the force area
  • Previous experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Previous experience of building relationships and working with partner agencies and the private sector
  • Knowledge of project management techniques

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years has been identified for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
