Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Temporary (until 31 July 2020)

 

Role Purpose:

The successful candidate will assume responsibility as ‘Case Officer’ for all allocated Child Protection Conferences reporting to the Local Referral Unit Manager.  They will also represent South Yorkshire Police at Initial Child Protection Conferences (ICPC’s), MARAC & Strategy meetings and make decisions on behalf of SYP regarding Child Protection Plans.

Key Responsibilities:

It is essential that the successful candidate have experience of working in Child Protection or in a Multi-Agency environment.  Candidates should have experience of attending and participating in meetings and the writing of accurate reports.  The successful candidate must be computer literate and be able to use a variety of computer systems to update information and be able to research & interrogate systems in order to disseminate information to partner agencies.

You will also make decisions, on behalf of SYP, about the need for a child protection plan in the best’s interests of the child after having considered information shared at the conference by police and other agencies.

The post holder will challenge the views of other professionals, irrespective of status or organisation that are clearly inconsistent with SYP values and, in the opinion of the CPCLO, contrary to the child’s best interests and/or the interests of justice.

Skills and experience:

The successful candidate will have experience of working in Child Protection, a multi-agency environment and experience of attending and participating in meetings.

You will also need to have experience in updating and interrogating computer systems and possess the ability to compile reports.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years has been identified for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.

Any tattoos which could be deemed inappropriate or cause offence will also not be accepted. If you have tattoos, you will need to make a declaration at the time of application.

Closing dates are not normally extended, other than in exceptional circumstances and agreement is made with the HR Manager, Recruitment and the Line Manager for the role.
