Hours: 21 hours per week (Wednesday – Friday)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Personal Safety/First Aid Trainer to join the Learning and Development Team based at Courtland Road, Hull.  This role sits within HR Services, which is collaboration between South Yorkshire Police & Humberside Police and delivers a range of HR services for both forces.

Role Purpose:

The main purpose of the role is to provide comprehensive personal safety training together with the design and delivery of officer safety training for both police officers and police staff in line with force requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

In this exciting role you will:

  • Design and develop coursework, training aids, manuals and workbooks to assist in the delivery of training.
  • Deliver training to students using a range of appropriate teaching methods.
  • Will identify training needs, defining course aims and objectives in accordance with Force departmental and external requirements.
  • Monitor and research developments in legislation and police procedures and update curriculum contents.

 Skills and experience:

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and behaviours:

  • Hold a nationally recognised adult teaching qualification
  • Hold a first aid at work certificate
  • Must have substantial previous physical education training
  • Hold a full driving licence
  • Be prepared to travel to other locations within South Yorkshire
  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings when required
  • Must hold or be willing to work towards a level 2 health and safety qualification in managing safety

Further information:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police & Humberside Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 3 years has been identified for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.

Closing dates are not normally extended, other than in exceptional circumstances and agreement is made with the HR Manager, Recruitment and the Line Manager for the role.
