Humberside Fire & Rescue Service is looking to recruit two highly motivated and enthusiastic Health & Safety advisers to work within its Health, Safety & Environment team.

Following a collaboration agreement with Humberside Police to provide a Joint Health and Safety Service, an exceptional opportunity has arisen for innovative Health & Safety professionals to work for a progressive Emergency Service in roles that are critical to the continual improvement of the health and safety management of both blue-light organisations.

As this is a technically focussed role, you must be qualified to a minimum of NEBOSH National Certificate level, with a demonstrable history of working in a similar environment. Proficiency in accident investigation is essential, as are effective communication skills and a high standard of computer literacy.

Successful applicants should be adaptable and able to consistently display behaviour in line with the organisational principles of Humberside Fire & Rescue Service which include leadership, dependability, innovation and passion.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Understanding and interpreting health, safety and environmental legislation to facilitate compliance through a proportionate, risk-based approach to workplace safety and health.
  • Providing support and guidance to staff as appropriate
  • Undertaking a wide range of workplace audits and specific risk assessments.
  • Providing an excellent customer focussed service.
  • Researching and reviewing of information to change policies and procedures.
  • Analysis of information, monitoring trends and preparation of detailed reports.
  • Delivering related specialist training to staff.
  • Promoting a positive and environmentally conscious culture.
  • Providing advice to senior management.
  • Participating in consultations with employees and their representatives
  • Representing HFRS at meetings with external bodies, local and regional partners.

Based at our Service Headquarters, Summergroves Way, Hull, you will have access to free parking and be able to join the on-site station gym.
